Frenuloplasty
What is the frenulum?
The frenulum is a strip of tissue that connects the foreskin to the glans. In a flaccid state, the frenulum is typically positioned inside the foreskin and becomes visible only during penile erection.
The frenulum is characterized by significant sensitivity as this area is rich in blood vessels and nerve endings that, when stimulated, can induce sexual pleasure. On the other hand, continuous and forceful stimulation can lead to a partial or total tear, resulting in bleeding and intense pain.
What is its function?
Its primary function is undoubtedly mechanical. Indeed, this thin strip of tissue sets a "limit" to the excessive exposure of the glans during an erection, limiting its excursion and preventing excessive traction. In a flaccid state, the frenulum ensures protection of the glans by ensuring that the foreskin covers the tissue.

How do I discover the shortness of the frenulum?
Most cases of frenulum breve are discovered due to traumatic events that occur during sexual intercourse. The rupture of the frenulum artery can lead to massive bleeding, which, while not life-threatening, is nevertheless impressive and prompts the patient to seek medical attention.
What is the treatment?
The treatment is surgical and involves one of the least problematic procedures in urology. It is performed on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia, and the patient can return to their daily life after a few hours.

Can Frenuloplasty cure Premature Ejaculation?
Frenuloplasty surgery may be recommended for patients with a short frenulum who also report Premature Ejaculation. This is because the frenulum area is one of the most sensitive areas of the male genitals, and excessive stimulation due to a short frenulum can contribute to Premature Ejaculation.
